The Film

21 and Done points the lens at an antiquated foster care system and follows young adults as they begin to navigate a tumultuous transition to adult life.

21 is a celebrated age for many young Americans,

but if you’re aging out of the Foster Care system, the countdown to homelessness can feel more like a ticking bomb. What should be an age for celebrating adulthood becomes a time of anxiety, desperation and danger for many of these young adults. Meet current and former Foster youth facing these unique challenges and the organizations outside the system that are on the front lines battling for their futures.

Kiara C Jones & Jocelyn B. Scott

BIOGRAPHIES

Kiara C Jones is a Writer, Director, Producer and the proprietor of Cultivated Films LLC. Her New York based production company champions diverse storytelling and is focused on creating sustainable financial models for independent filmmakers. Kiara was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2015 for producing Anja Marquardt’s She’s Lost Control (Berlinale, CICAE, SXSW) The Directors Guild of America honored Kiara with the Grand Jury Award for her debut feature, Christmas Wedding Baby, (Urbanworld, VIACOM, Netflix)
She collaborated with Oscar winning Writer, Geoffrey Fletcher as the US winner for the Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series (TriBeCa) Kiara is an Alumni of IFP’s Emerging Narrative Lab, was selected for Sony Pictures Television Diverse Director’s Program and is a Trans Atlantic Partners International Co-production symposium fellow.

 

Jocelyn B. Scott is a producer, filmmaker and owner of Foster Focus Media LLC. Her personal focus is shedding light, through film on social issues affecting children and young adults. Jocelyn won the Governor's Emmy for Exemplary Programming, for producing the documentary Healing The Hate. She worked as a national news producer for NBC Nightly News, Dateline NBC and as a senior producer at E! Entertainment Television. Jocelyn Received EBONY MAGAZINE'S, Top 10 Best Gifts for Kids when she created, BeBop Baby Sing and Learn Line of children's learning tools to help enhance preschoolers cognitive and developmental experience. Always a champion of social issues Jocelyn produced and directed a short film tackling the complicated issues of children aging out of foster care.
